The first hypedust has settled. I was amazed at some rather strong reactions. Some commentators flared at the high price tag, seeing a demise in society per se.
Others say it is just another phone. One that does exactly what many other phones already can do.
Only few have actually seen, let alone played with, it. In a previous post I mentioned one of those lucky ones.
Since then the projected costs of the iPhone have been estimated. Projecting a whopping 50% margin. Which means that Apple has a lot of leeway if they should decide to enter a price war.
Over at the Chicago Sun Times, Andy Ihnatko had a 45min “face” time with the iPhone, and posted a positive impression report. He wraps it up nicely:
Any complaints about what the iPhone can’t do are premature. Remember, it won’t ship for six months. I really, really like what I’ve seen so far. But true judgment won’t come until June.
Found some rumors about Google’s imminent plans on a iPhone killer. Well, like they say: It’s true. I read it on the internet.
Hungry for more iPhone buzz? See dozens of high-quality iPhone interface close-ups, iPhone software photo gallery, many posts about the iPhone over at engadget (even one discussing the aspect ratio of the display. Disappointing that Apple opted for a 4:3 display - and at the same time denouncing number-dialing as “last century” in the keynote). Anyway, even more of the almost same gallery of iPhone hardware photos.

Google versus the iphone.
Let us first speak of a closer threat. Does the iphone threaten the blackberry?
Some say no. If it is no. Then there is no threat that google can pose to the iphone.
If you say yes….then kids - i think Google will surpass not only iphone but also RIM (creators of the blackberry) in the near future.
But i’m still a RIM grrl even tho’ i’m a google whore. *sigh*
