As previously promised to Hans, here are finally some shots from my vacation in Gran Canaria.

The first few days were raining.

Luckily, we did not live in a place like this.

Yours truly jumping off a dune

Yours truly, photographed by my 4 1/2 year old daughter.

At the end of a hike that took us 2.000 meters up, yours truly enjoys a cold local beer und blossoming almond trees.

My pleasure. The other reason it took so long was that all those pictures were taken in RAW format, which I had stored on a seperate harddisk, which never was at the same place as me when I was in blogging mood…
No, I’ve always been a Nikon man, a D50. That said, it doesn’t really matter what camera make you use, it’s mostly the ability/experience, then the lens (in this case an embarassingly cheap Sigma) and lastly the camera.
The greenish creature is one of those many weird beings that live underwater; here photographed in a big fish tank; lens pressed right onto the glass to a) avoid reflection b) steady the shot for the longish exposure.

Indeed; Gran Canaria is such a unique experience. It is a little island that is almost perfectly round, 50km (about 30 miles) wide, yet has 4 different climatic zones.
And I am impressed at my daughter’s photo capabilities. She manages not only to lift the SLR camera and push the right button, but get a straight angle plus a very decent framing.
