Previously, I wrote about The Art of Noise. While they certainly make creative, experimental music, beauty is not the first adverb that springs to mind when thinking of them.
It’s time to introduce to my other favourite band, Madredeus. Simply beautiful Fado music, featuring the beautiful voice (and person) Teresa Salgueiro.
And the song Guitarra that started it all (from the film Lisbon Story by Wim Wenders that started it all):
I had the great fortune of meeting Mr. Wenders twice. He said that under the filming of Lisbon Story, the whole crew fell in love with Madredeus’ lead singer.
If you want to add some very beautiful Portuguese music to your collection, I would recommend you to start with the soundtrack.
